BENEFITS OF
ATHLETE MEMBERSHIP

USA Wrestling is the National Governing Body for the Sport of Wrestling in the United States and, as such, is its representative to the United States Olympic Committee. Simply, USA Wrestling is the central organization that coordinates amateur wrestling programs in the nation and works to create interest and participation in these programs. 

 

The many programs and activities conducted by USA Wrestling or the thousands of chartered clubs, provide opportunities for youth and adults alike to gain an understanding and appreciation for the international styles of wrestling, freestyle and Greco-Roman, and folkstyle (scholastic and collegiate) which is the style practiced at high schools and colleges across the country. 

 

USA Wrestling has more than 232,000 members. These members include athletes of all ages, coaches, officials, parents and fans striving together to strengthen the sport. Part of USA Wrestling's mission is to foster grassroots development for the sport. 

 

Each year, USA Wrestling charters over 4400 wrestling clubs and sanctions over 2100 local, state, regional and national competitions. These opportunities and more are just a small part of the exciting world of USA Wrestling.

Coaches membership

 Wrestling Leader Membership

 BEFORE being considered to be a coach with the Ravens Wrestling Club, an individual is required to be USAW Wrestling Leader Certified each season. Wrestling Leader memberships are for those who coach, teach and/or officiate wrestling. To become USAW certified, a coach must do the following:

  A.  Pass USA Wrestling's Criminal Background Check

  B.  Attend the Online Modules and pass the USA Wrestling SafeSport Program

  C.  Purchase the USA Wrestling Leader membership

  D.  Enroll in & complete the (free)  HEADS UP Concussion in Youth Sports Course.
After completing the above, interested parties must be approved by the Coaching Staff & Ravens Wrestling Club board of directors.

All USAW-sanctioned events require coaches to have a valid USAW Wrestling Leader Membership to coach in the corner. This includes all local P2P Tournaments and National USAW Tournaments.

Membership benefits include secondary, non-duplicating sports accident insurance provided by an outside carrier.
There is sports accident supplemental benefits provided to USA Wrestling members who participate in limited non-sanctioned events. This insurance coverage includes a deductible, co-payment provisions and other conditions of the policy (details are available here); limited liability insurance (per the conditions of the policy); the privilege to coach at events and specified camps, clinics, international exchanges and club programs; opportunity for coach instruction and certification; and other national discount programs as they become available.
A Wrestling Leader membership is separate and may NOT be used for Competition as a wrestler.

All Ravens Wrestling Club members are required to purchase their own USA Wrestling memberships and include the USAW ID# on the Ravens Wrestling Club registration paperwork.

Memberships are good for 1-year, from September 1st to August 31st.
